More Easter cookies!!!

Well, somehow I just can't believe Easter hasn't already come and gone.

I would know if it had....those pesky bunnyprints in the backyard...

So I guess I'll just keep on making cookies until it gets here!

These were inspired by cookies that Ali Bee's Bakeshop entered in the coppergifts.com Easter cookie contest.

We really like blue here at our house (must be all those boys), so I made some blue ones.

Here they are,  all together....hmmm...I know I made a dozen of these...someone's been eating the cookies!

These were inspired by Glorious Treats.  I saw them a few weeks ago and have been wanting to make them ever since!  When she first posted these little chicks, she gave great step-by-step instructions on how to make them (and a bunch of other cute Easter cookies-go check them out!).

Easter bunnies, flowers and....cadbury eggs?

My husband and I met in college, and were great friends before we were...more than friends.

(Easter bunnies, eggs and grass cookies)

Once we were more than friends, we knew pretty quickly that we wanted to stick together.

(gigantic flowers and eggs)

But I think everyone has that moment when you 'just know'.  You know that this person knows you better than anyone else could in the entire world, and they love you unconditionally.

One year while we were dating, a few days after Easter, Joe stopped by my apartment with a gift.

He had driven around to all the stores in our little college town and bought ALL THE CADBURY CREME EGGS HE COULD FIND!!!!!!!!

(bunny hiding in the grass, can you find him?)

Yup...that was the moment.

He hates Cadbury Creme Eggs...thinks they're disgusting...but he bought them all (seriously all) for me, because he knew I loved them and couldn't get them again for a whole year.

And you know what?  After that many creme eggs, I can't stand them either...

So now I make cookies!

(Easter cookies available at 'My Flower Girl')

(spring flowers available at the 'Relay for Life' fundraising bake sale)

Happy Easter, Happy Spring!

Thanks for stopping by.

(Big thanks to Miss Christy for helping me tie up all the Easter cookie bags!  You rock!)

Dragonflies!

I've had a dragonfly cookie cutter for ages, but somehow have never used it...so I finally did!

Made these for 'My Flower Girl'.  One of her employees is celebrating a birthday and these went into a box of sunshine for her.

Also made some corporate gifts for her to take on some visits...

Hope everyone liked their treats!!!

Thanks Miss Lisa!!

Spots and Stripes

Its still Easter time, and there are still cookies to make, and I still don't like doing faces!!!

So I did these....

Stripey eggs...

...and spotty bunnies.

Then Jack said...."Mommy, why did you give the bunnies chicken pox?"

Thanks for stopping by.

Bunnyprints!!!

How do you know when your friends stop being just friends and become your family?
There definitely comes a day when you realize they are a part of all your most important memories.

In our house, it also seems to have something to do with everyday vocabulary and conversation.

  • We don't eat crispy tacos, we eat 'Christy Tacos'.  (flour tortillas, hot oil, all kinds of good things going on inside)
  • You need a super-deluxe, squisheroo, pick-the-munchkin-up-off-their-feet kinda hug?   That's a 'Christy hug'
  • What does Jack say when he's looking at the ceiling during a thunderstorm?  "Mommy, we should call Mr. Brian and thank him for making the rain stop in the living room!" (long story for another day-and yes, he says this every time it rains).
  • If something needs fixing in the house, and Daddy is thinking about it a little too long without actually picking up any tools, the boys say "let's call Mr. Brian, he'll know what to do!".   Ethan will even bring the phone.

Really, I could go on and on all day....but its Easter time, so I'm thinking about this...

Ethan was 20 months old at the time, and it was Easter morning.

I was inside making breakfast and Joe and Ethan went out to get the newspaper....and then I heard the giggles.
The doorbell rang furiously and I saw...

Bunnyprints!!!

Absolutely the cutest thing I had ever seen.

So I said (quietly), "Joe, when did you do this?"

He shook his head and said, "wasn't me, I thought it was you."

Ethan LOVED it...(so did I)

After a few moments of thinking there really was a giant man-sized bunny running around town, we started thinking about who could have done this.

We checked with the most obvious people first, our neighbors...nope not them.

You might be thinking 'didn't they know it was Christy and Brian right away?'

We didn't.  You know why?

They live a half an hour away!  They drove all the way over in the middle of the night just so our munchkin would have a surprise in the morning....

And....the tradition stuck.

The bunny that visits our house seems to have shrunk a bit and has moved to the backyard (this works out better when mom remembers at 10 p.m. and is already wearing pajamas-no need to scare the neighbors).

He comes through the back fence, hops along the cement to our back door, then disappears under the side fence to our neighbors yard.

I giggle hysterically while I'm doing this...its absolutely my favorite holiday tradition.

Thank you Christy and Brian (and Reece and Paige)!  This is just another way you've brightened our lives!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

The best part of the bunny

I've been wanting to make some Easter cookies....but I couldn't quite decide what to make.

Did I want bunnies, eggs, chicks....

...and what exactly do bunny faces look like?

So I started looking through some of Jack's picture books,
but I just wasn't getting inspired.

After getting more and more frustrated with myself, I stomped my foot and said,

"how hard can it be to think up a cute Easter bunny!!!!"

...it hit me...

(and I did that giggling to myself thing again...)

Grumpy Bunnies

Save the Ta-Ta's!!!

Some of my very fabulous girlfriends are doing something AWESOME!

They have joined together to walk in the Susan G. Koman 3-day For the Cure this fall.

(60 miles, 3 days of walking, 2 nights CAMPING-yes these ladies deserve cookies!)

They are team........

Just love the name!!!

And who is on this team you ask?
Well let me tell you!

In this corner....no wait, wrong sport...

Our first lovely lady is Christy Thompson.

Christy is walking for her Mother-in-Law Carol, her "neighborhood mom" Melinda, her Aunt Darleen, and several other friends who are all breast cancer survivors.

Next, we have Lisa Capps and Gina Rosenwald.

Lisa is the team captain and has organized the ladies into action,
Gina is a 'first-time' walker and is very excited to participate!

Rounding out the team...Stephanie Vrabel and Dina Zapalski.

Stephanie and Dina are working hard, training and fund-raising for this great cause.

These wonderful ladies are proudly walking to acknowledge the challenges women everywhere have overcome while undergoing treatment and surgeries.

Together they have pledged to raise at least $10,000!  Wow!!

All these ladies deserve hugs and kisses and gratitude (and cookies) for their dedication and commitment!

They could also really use donations to help them meet their goal!!

All donations are tax deductible and its very easy to do.  Just click on the walker's name you would like to donate to.  The links will take you to their personal fundraising pages.

Thank you Christy, Lisa, Gina, Steph and Dina!  We're all so proud of you!

Save the Ta-Ta's!!

*A note for all the cookie bakers out there-
If you love the zebra stripes on these pink and white ribbons....please visit the tutorial I watched to learn how to make them.

You can find it on one of my favorite blogs Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle.

She is absolutely the most amazing cookie decorator I have ever seen.
Martha Stewart has nothing on this fabulous lady....

Thanks Sugarbelle for all your inspiration!
Look for her camouflage ribbon cookies....amazing!!!!!!

A little afternoon snack...

I was thinking about making cookies the other day (so maybe I think about this everyday) and I thought....

I've been making so many sugar cookies....the boys are probably pretty tired of them.

I really should make something else....

And then I giggled....

and I thought...'oh that would be funny'

'oh...that might really be cute!'

and then this happened....

Chocolate Chip Cookies!  and Peanut Butter Cookies!

but....hmm....missing something....what does this need.....

Oh yeah!!

Got Milk?

Thanks for stopping by!

14....really?!

My goodness......that went quickly.

Fourteen years ago today, Joe and I got married in front of 300 of our closest friends and family.
(The mass took an hour and fifteen minutes....we are REALLY married).

The church was beautiful, the party was fabulous.   Guests came from far and wide to help us celebrate and start our life together.

There are so many things you don't know the day you get married...and isn't that the biggest thrill of all?

The possibilities of what is to come.  The things you will see, the places you'll go, the sadness, the celebrations...and you know that everyday this person will be your best friend, biggest cheerleader and steadfast anchor.

So Joe, thank you for the past 14 years (and for all the years to come).  You have been the best partner in life I could ever imagine.

Thank you for our little munchkin.

Thank you for our rock star.

Thank you for date nights....

....and family nights.

Happy Anniversary Joe B!

Love ya somethin' awful....

About Me

Hi!

I'm Lizy B.

I'm Mommy to my 5 1/2 year old son, Jack,

Mom to my 11 year old son Ethan,

and Honey to my husband, Joe B.

I'm a baker (gosh that sounds official), not formally trained.  I worked at an upscale kitchen store for years and years and loved every minute.  I learned so much working with wonderful bakers and cooks while I was there.

Somewhere around the age of 11 or 12, I started checking out the Wilton Cake Decorating books from the library and became obsessed.  All those cakes were just so pretty!  I had to know how to do that!   Then Martha Stewart showed up on the scene and I couldn't get enough.  I've spent time decorating cakes and working with chocolate, but cookies are my favorite.  You can have just a bite, they're easy to share with friends, and they're pretty!

I'm an interior designer, that's what I went to school to do, although I've never done that professionally.
I found that my favorite part of designing was helping someone to achieve their vision of what a space could be.  That turned out to only be 10 percent of the job.  The rest was contractors, phone calls and yelling at people who don't show up....not great.  I still love design.  Visiting model homes, magazines, blogs, showrooms, HGTV, even Home Depot...all great fun!  But I save the actual design for my own home.

I'm a drill sergeant. (okay, not really, but aren't all mom's drill sergeants?)

I'm a techie nerd.  Yes, it's true.  Not that I'm great at it.  I curse at the computer just as much as the next person.  I just happen to look at my computer as the worlds largest and best craft tool, and instruction manual, and travel guide, and reference book....I could go on and on...

I'm a bookworm.  Having a bad day?  Go to the book store.  Really, really bad day?  Go find the cookie cook books!  If I'm not baking or decorating a cookie...I probably have my head in a book.

I'm, apparently, a blogger!

Thanks for stopping by!
