Fore!!

One of my husband's best childhood friends had a 'milestone' birthday this month.

When we dropped of his cookies, my boys got a peek into his super fabulous Notre Dame media room.

For the past week, every time I see Ethan get that far-off look in his eyes and I ask "what are you thinking about Bud?" he tells me, "I just can't stop thinking about that movie room......".

He clearly has a new hero.

For Sean's birthday, I made golf cookies!

My husband tells me all the really great stuff happens at the 19th hole....
anyone care to explain this to me?
Pretty sure there are 18 holes....right?

I seem to have a habit of making cookies that make me laugh...
not sure if anyone else finds them funny.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sean!
We hope you got to spend at least part of it in your super cool room!

Act Two...come get your diploma!

So...yesterday I showed off the twinkly tutus and toe shoes portion of Tess's graduation cookies.

Here are the rest!!

Diplomas and grad caps.
Not terribly original, but absolutely necessary.
This high school's colors are teal, black and silver.
I added some shooting stars for sparkle.
(you can never have enough sparkle)

'T's for Tess.
Music notes, she also sings in the choir.
Hearts because.....well.....I just like them.

The Grand Finale!

All good things must come to an end....

...but something even better is probably waiting right around the corner.

Twinkle Toes!

You know how sometimes you get to make something (or do something) and you have that moment of recollection....that flashback to when you were little and your dreams were sooooo big.  You could picture yourself in your head doing just about anything...

Anyone?  Anyone with me here?  hmmm....

Well, when I was small, I loved ballet.  I loved the music, the ballet studio, my teacher Miss Sheila, the fact that you could dance around the room from corner to corner and there wasn't any furniture to bump into.....

Mostly, I loved the outfits.  The tutus!!!
All the satin and lace and sequins, oh my!

The shoes!!!  Yes, they hurt like a b@#%^, but there's nothing prettier...

So when Jackie asked me to make graduation cookies for her daughter who just happens to be a ballet dancer.....I was seven years old again.  Dreaming about the pretty stage outfits I'd get to wear one day.
I never quite got to the pretty, grown-up tutus.  I stopped ballet before then...

but a little girl can still dream.....

Ooooooh...sparkles!

One of these things is not like the others....

That's better.  Who was that silly girl in the middle?

Ooops, here she comes again.

My favorite....

I was trying to be all fancy and artistic with this shot.
Clearly I need more practice, and a better camera....
but you can see the sanding sugar on the tutus a little better.

Congratulations Tess!!!!!

This now concludes Act One of 'Tess's Graduation'

Come back tomorrow for Act Two!

Almost done!

The end of the school year is always a frenzy.  It seems to fly by and move at a snail's pace simultaneously.

We've had end of year parties, ice cream socials, birthdays, school carnivals, school projects...you name it, all in the past 2 weeks.

It's been a blast.

With that many parties, there are bound to be cookies...

Our school carnival, which we call Funfest, has a cake walk booth.  It's like musical chairs, I think, and the winner gets to choose a baked treat from a HUGE display.

It's one of my favorite things to bake for because anything goes!!

Ice cream cones that don't melt!!!

Cupcakes...of course.

Lots of pawprints!  The school's mascot is the bobcat.

That's where the flip-flops went too.

So what's going on now?
More end of year festivities.  Ethan has another day and a half...
Graduations, pool parties, dance recitals, fund-raising....

Better go preheat the oven.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lolly-Lolly-Lollipops!

The school year is finally coming to a close.

Finally...

Jack's preschool is having a 'graduation' for the kiddos moving onto kindergarten and a parade for those who will be returning next year (Jack will be in the parade).

He's been practicing marching for a week.

Since every milestone is a cookie opportunity for mommy...I made treats for all the munchkins!

Lollipops!!!

One for everybody!

I thought the teachers might appreciate something slightly more dignified...

Jack has two fabulous teachers.....

The jars are filled with mini flowers, leaves and monograms!

I really wanted to share a preschool picture of Jack.  I realize this is a christmas-time photo and not at all appropriate for the end of the year, but.....

How cute is my little reindeer!!!

Have a great day everyone,
thanks for stopping by!

Oh wait!  I changed the header again!  What do you think?
I think this one's a keeper!

Home Sweet Home!

I had the opportunity to decorate cookies over the weekend that I had NEVER done before!!!

A girlfriend of mine was headed to a housewarming and asked for some cookies to bring as a hostess gift.

I said "Sure!  What kind of cookies would you like?"  and she said "Whatever you want."

That's my FAVORITE answer!!!

Ooooohh I had so much fun deciding what to make!

First came the keys and welcome mats.

Then more keys and a few doors.

Some 'Home Sweet Home' signs.

More signs.

These are my favorites...SOLD!

There's also a big cookie with their new address on it.
I was thinking the new owners probably wouldn't appreciate that splashed all over the internet,
so I covered it for the picture.

All wrapped up and ready to go!

Enjoy your new home Marc and Cindy!  I hope its filled with many happy memories!

Signs of Summer!

Isn't it funny how we all have a different sign that summer is here?

For some it's the arrival of their favorite fruit in the produce aisle.  Others wait for the sunshine to last until after dinner.

I think most kids agree that if school is out, it's summer for sure!  (still another 1 1/2 weeks for the munchkins in SoCal.)

For me....its tan feet.  Tan Feet!  How silly is that!

The first few days the flip-flops come out of hiding are rather scary....feet glowing with paleness.

But, its been a few weeks.  There are flip-flops in the hallway, the garage, by the front-door, back-door...

In the KITCHEN!!!!!!!

Get in here and Put Your Shoes Away!!!!

...oh wait, those are mine....they can stay right there.

(On second thought, put them all in the laundry room.  Nothing going on in there anyway)

Yes, the tootsies are finally looking a little tan.  They have seen sunlight (alright maybe they've the self-tanner bottle too...)

Summer's here!!!!

How do you know its summer?

Thanks for stopping by!

What would you do...?

What would you do if your washer stopped working?

(Washing machine...not a washer that no longer comes to your house to wash things)

What if that washer stopped working the day before your son's big baseball game?

And then that boy gets really, really dirty and really, really likes towels?

How about when the machine part is finally delivered, and its the wrong part....twice?

And the warehouse doesn't understand why it won't fit...and tells the technician to try harder?

What if on the 14th day without that washer the technician says, "This issue will have to go to the research department" and makes your next appointment 10 days from that day?

Hm.....

You want to know what I did?

I made margaritas....

help yourself!  (just try not to spill...I'm out of towels)

I do!

I love to look through wedding magazines.  Even more than gossipy ones!

They're just so pretty!

Somewhere between the flowers, invitations, jewelry, parties and vacations I always end up inspired by something!!

I've been drooling over the latest Martha Stewart Wedding magazine for the past few weeks....

and couldn't stop thinking about the dresses!!

This one had pockets!!!  Pockets!!
(couldn't quite figure out how to make a cookie pocket though...)

How glamourous is this!

I could wear that to drop off the kids at school...right?
