Halloween shoes!

I never quite understood why witches wear all black.

I mean, I get the whole 'menacing, scary old witch, swooping down on a broomstick with a high-pitched cackle' thing.  Clearly, while doing that particular job, the plain, black outfit is appropriate.

But, c'mon.  If you were the type of person (would a witch be a person?) that could brew potions, had magic mirrors and turn princes into frogs....don't you think you'd show a little imagination in your fashion choices?

So after I thought about that for a bit....

What if you were a teenage witch!

...and you conjured up some fabulous new shoes!!!!!

And you couldn't wait to go to school and show your friends!

But then......

That girl....the one that likes the same boy you like....
conjured up shoes just like yours!!!!
*GASP*

And she got to school first!
She was showing off her shoes before you could even get to the door!!!!!

So, you pull out your wand and aim it at her!
(now she's scared, you'll show her)

Oh no!  Someone heard you....here they come!

It's your teacher!!!!
Uh-oh, she's mad!

She's running!

Whew!  You put away your wand just in time.  She'll never know what happened...

Besides, purple roses are way cooler than orange...

Halloween Sprinkles

You know when you walk into a store....and they have decorated for the next holiday
waaaaaaay too early...?

And then you think to yourself  "Who in the world are they doing this for?  No one in their right mind is buying Halloween stuff in July?!"  (...or Christmas in August...)

....ahem....that would be me.
This is my public apology to the world of retail shoppers.

Believe me, outwardly, I'm complaining with the rest of you!
But secretly....when no one's looking....I LOVE IT!

I can get lost in the sea of sparkly new merchandise.
Luckily, I'm a much better browser than a buyer.   Most things stay on the shelf until they are appropriately sale-priced.

Except for....sprinkles.
I have more holiday themed baking sprinkles than I know what to do with.
As cute as they are, they rarely make it onto cookies.

So when I saw this set of Halloween sprinkles I was THRILLED!  Because, I already knew they would be perfect for cookies!  (and this certainly justifies all my previous purchases that are on the shelf, right!?)

Here they are!  A little creepy in the coffins.....
The first container has black and white skulls, the middle is black sanding sugar,
and the third....

little candy spiders!!!!
(Wilton 3 pack)

Poor little things are homeless!

That's better!

I couldn't decide if I liked the green or black better.
So now they're roommates.

"Bye little guys!  Enjoy your new homes!"

Halloween!!

I think it's safe....I know its still more than a few weeks away....but I can't wait another second!!!!

IT'S GLITTER SEASON!!!!!!

Halloween, fall, then all the fabulous wintertime holidays....

All perfectly good excuses for GLITTER!!!!

Every year I watch Martha Stewart and her buckets of glitter making everything sparkle.

Pumpkins, pinecones, gourds, squash....you name it.  That woman goes through more glue in one holiday than kindergarten classes use in a whole school year.

I've tried glittering a few things here and there...but really...it's never worth the mess.  Everything sparkles for weeks.  It sticks to tables, couches, floors, children....

Unless.....

You Can EAT the Glitter!!!!!

Sparkly, sprinkly, fabulously crunchy, sugary...

Glitter!!!!!

I have no idea what little baby ghosties have to do with glittery pumpkins.
I just like them.

Way too cute to be scary in any way.

All wrapped up and looking for a home!

By the way....Halloween Cookies now available at The Flower Girl!!!

Elephants!

After Jack and I were done giggling over the monkeys, he noticed something else....

"You made friends for the monkeys!!
Awww...they're happy elephants!"

"I'm glad you like them buddy."

"Do elephants eat bananas too?"

"Nope, they eat peanuts."

"Do they taste like peanuts?"

"No, they taste like cookies..."

"Oh"

"Mom?"

"Yes, Jack?"

"Can I be done looking at cookies now?"

Monkeys!

"Hey Jack....Come see the cookies I just finished!"

"Awww, those are so cute, I just want to hug 'em."

"Thanks Jack-Jack."

"Mom, you know what I just noticed?"

"No, what?"

"They're hungry...."

"You're hungry?  Okay, let's have lunch..."

"No...the monkeys.  They just told me they're hungry."

"....well....good thing I made them lunch too!"

Jack and I, we think alike....

....and yes, I realize that means I think like a 5 year old.
It makes life much more fun.

High Five Birthday Boy!!

It's birthday season in our house.  As soon as september hits, they come fast and furious.
And let me tell 'ya....that's a lot of cake.

But before we get too far into the month, we had a very important birthday in our family just a few weeks ago.

My munchkin, my baby, my little man.....

...my Jack-Jack....

Turned five. 5!
How the heck!!!!

Oh this boy, with his heart on his sleeve and a mischievous twinkle in his eye, turned 5.
I can hardly stand it.  The years are going by so fast...

For the second year in a row, we were traveling on his birthday.  We've gotten pretty good at decorating hotel rooms.

This year, Jack wanted a Batman party!

We started a new tradition....birthday cupcakes for breakfast!!!

Not a bad way to wake up!

We also decided that, on your birthday, you can eat as many cupcakes as you are years old.

Jack liked that part the best!

Happy Birthday little man.

Thank you for all the laughter and sunshine you've brought to our lives in only 5 short years.
Our lives and family are so much brighter because you are here.

We love you something awful...

Last Days of Summer!

Seems like summer goes by faster every year!

Right?

Crazy isn't it?!

Our summer felt like a whirlwind.

We had pool days, and fevers, and lazy days, and fevers, and vacations, and .....
(starting to notice something?)

It was the summer of bizarre sickness at our house.
We've gone through more motrin and tylenol than I'd like to think about.

There was a bit of a family vacation thrown in there somewhere though....
anyone care to guess where we went?

We saw some of these....

....and a few of these...

...even got a little wet!

I absolutely, 'no way, not in a million years' did NOT wear one of these....

...although, I may, or may not, have caught my almost 11 year old watching them walk by....

Any guesses?

Thanks for stopping by!!
