Be There

There are certain times in life when you want so desperately to help,
but the only help that is needed is just to be there.

So I'm off to 'be there' for a much beloved
man, father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather and friend.

Thanks in advance for your kind thoughts and prayers...
and I'd love if you did something else too.

Go kiss and hug your 'elders'.

Tell them you love them.

Tell them you appreciate all they've done for you in your life.

Listen to their stories about when they were young.

Make them smile.

...and when you've done all those things...

...do them again.

Love to you all, be back soon.

Thanks for stopping by! Lizy B

  1. lizy, u rock. besides being incredibly talented and artistic in the kitchen you are a kind person. at 66 i am an elder to many yet am fortunate to have many women in my life older than i. i try to hear their needs and be there when needed. it is a reward in and of myself. my 94 yo friend calls it "missionary work." i call it being kind. not everyone is. u are. kudos.

  2. What a wonderful post from wonderful you! My dad just turned 88 and physically he is doing great; he is on no medication, but mentally his dementia is progressing, sadly. The last time he was with me for about a week in November and for the first time he did not remember my name, or know I was his daughter. I went in my room and cried. It's sad to lose someone while they are still here.

  4. What a touching post. I think sometimes we get so caught up in our day to day lives that we forget how important it is to do this. We are never promised tomorrows & have to make the most of today. Hugs & prayers.
