My Kitchen?!
A funny thing happened over the holiday.
Our friends and family that stopped in to visit kept looking in my cabinets.
No, I'm not joking.
They even took pictures.
A week or two before Christmas, I put all (YES ALL) of my baking things away.
I was determined to take a real vacation while the kids were out of school.
But...this really bothered people.
I heard a lot of...
"So where are all the cookies?!"
Don't get me wrong, it didn't bother me in the least, but I was surprised.
They wanted to see the colors and cutters and baking sheets and sprinkles...
So, I thought about it for awhile...
and I would have done the exactly same thing.
If I showed up at another baker's house, the first thing I would want to see is all the stuff!
....and then I'm sure all the questions would start...
"Where did you get this?"
"What do you use this for?!"
"Which one is your favorite?"
"Where do you put it all!!!?"
So....want to come over and visit my kitchen?
(I did straighten up just a bit before you stopped by.)
Here's the working part.
I work in the kitchen, Joe has his office around the corner (he works at home! yay!).
I take pictures over by that big window.
Southern exposure + uv layer on windows = blue photos.
We get a serious amount of sun for most of the year.
I took this picture at 8:30 in the morning.
I have to wait until the afternoon for the light to be just right.
So....where do I put all that stuff?
Well....I'll show you.
Every Tuesday!
Here's what I was thinking.
I'll start a new series....'Take-A-Peek Tuesdays!'
I'll show you how I store things.
How I organize my work space.
Which of my tools are my absolute favorites,
and which ones never really get used,
and where I got them!
(I'm hoping I'll even get some friends to share their spaces too!)
Pretty kitchen. The blue really makes the white cabinets pop.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is so BIG!! I am incredibly envious of all that space. My entire house is around 900 sq. ft and our kitchen is tiny. It is also hooked onto the living room and dining room so upon entering, visitors are greeted by a view of everything but the bedrooms and bathroom. I am looking forward to seeing how you organize things - great idea!
ReplyDeleteI would be THRILLED with all that space, and so much storage! You Lucky Pup, You! I have a small, crowded, inefficient kitchen space, but I still have fun making cookies:)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun! I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous kitchen. I love the idea for this series... I can hardly wait!
ReplyDelete<3 Christina at I Gotta Create!
That is such a great idea! Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteOrganizing stuff is your second talent. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous! I'm going to be setting up a new kitchen soon, so I'm excited to see how you set yours up. Hopefully I can copy some of your ideas!
ReplyDeleteI love the Blue walls! Great idea one the new series.
ReplyDeleteHehehe this is super cute!
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is gorgeous! And I think your new series idea is a good one - looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful kitchen... Love the colour. I found you through Tasty Thursdays. Newest follower now.
ReplyDeleteThis series will be fun! Your kitchen is gorgeous...I think you're brave to have white cabinets with two [make that three!] boys in the house! I am most interested in the island and already want to know - what's the big metal circle on one end? Hubby & I are considering knocking out the dining room wall that separates that room from the kitchen and making one big room, and adding a large island.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for all the kind words! I'm blushing a bit ;)....We are super lucky to have such a great space. It started out teeny-tiny until we expanded it around 8 years ago (I still cringe when I think about the process.)
DeleteFunny that those cabinets look white! They are a creamy color and have an antique wash.....they don't show fingerprints!!!! Crucial with all those boys! Shanna-those are bamboo cutting boards from costco. The round one has a stainless steel band around it.
I can so relate as I am blessed to have a large kitchen as well and everyone who comes to my house wants to see "where the magic happens". I have to admit that it stresses me a bit to keep everything looking perfect when people come by, particularly when I'm working on cookies, but it is the heart of our home. Plus, it's that time of year when everyone wants to clean up and reorganize so I'm excited to follow your blog in the weeks ahead. I know I'll learn something that will, without a doubt, put new energy into the time I spend in the kitchen, Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteFabulous kitchen!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your kitchen! Thank you for linking up at my party! I love your cookies and I think your Take A Peek Tuesdays sounds like a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I'm a bit of a sticky beak by nature (aren't we all?) and am always looking for new organisational ideas!
ReplyDeleteNew follower from the GFC hop :)
This looks amazing! I love the island in the middle and am very envious about the natural lighting you get! Fantastic! I look forward to Tuesdays to see the rest of it! Have a great day!
ReplyDeletenew follower from the gfc collective! i tend to throw everything into closets last minute when i know people are coming over haha, so i should probably organize my closets/cupboards soon!

Hello Kitchen, Its nice to meet you. You are hugh and very pretty. I love my kitchen but wish it was a little bit larger. I don't have a dishwasher that's me but to get a washer I would loose a cabinet..... enjoy all the space you have and cook and bake lots of good things. Andi
ReplyDeleteKitchen says 'why thank you!'
DeleteYou know how much I love that blue. I could dive right into it. I'm so eager to see how you've organized your "inventory." I never thought to poke around when I was there. But this is such a great idea! It's like looking behind the stage in the wings and behind the set.
ReplyDeleteLovely to have a tour of your beautiful kitchen to see where you make your wonderful creations. The dark blue wall is stunning.

ReplyDeleteI love your site, and your kitchen! I have to admit though, I was disappointed by the date on this post... I was hoping I was a year late and could see it all at once! ;)
