Call of Duty Cookies

Call of Duty, Black Ops 2....Cookies.

That is officially the strangest sentence I've ever typed.

If you have a 'gamer' in your life, you most likely know about this game...and how it just came out a week ago...and it's the coolest thing ever...and about the map-packs and zombie gear...
and nuketown...

Oh my.

Like most mothers out there, I'm completely freaked out by the whole thing.

But if you can't beat 'em...join 'em, feed them cookies,
and insist they have 'A's in all their classes if they are even
going to think about turning on their Xbox on the weekends.

I thought I'd give you a little window into life with a tweenage boy, ready?

Me:  Hey Ethan, so this new Call of Duty game you're playing, what's it about?
Is there a town that's been 'nuked' and are you guys running all over it shooting stuff after the war?

Ethan:  No, nuketown has nothing to do with Call of Duty.

Me:  but...What?
Then why does is say nuketown on all the stuff, and there's even a missile in the '0'.
And there's a radioactive symbol.

Ethan:  Well...yeah. But there wasn't a war.

Me:  Then why is it called Nuketown?

Ethan:  It's a fake town where they test missiles.

Me: So nuclear missiles blew up everything and now you're running around shooting people?

Ethan:  Uh huh.

Me:...isn't that what I said?

Ethan:...(shaking his head and looking at me with pity) It's okay Mom.
The cookies rock.

Yup...that's life.

Now I'm thinking I should have made a Call of Duty cocktail for myself instead.

Halloween Cookie Labels!

I've always loved the creepy old labels you can find at Hallowen.
I'm not sure why I've always been so intrigued.

As usual...once I've coveted something long enough....

It becomes a cookie.

Which would you rather have....

Eye of Newt,

Raven's Blood,

or

Poison No. 94?

It's a tough choice...

But that's the spirit of the holiday....right?

(tutorial on creepy antiqued cookies coming soon!)

Bat Cookies for Halloween!

I've been told by a very reliable source that I have a huge and loyal following among eight and nine year old girls in Virginia.

I thought I'd do a little series of Halloween jokes just for them!

Why do vampires need mouthwash?

Because they have Bat-Breath!

(Hi Kaylin!!!)

You can see some more creep-tastic bat cookies HERE!

Pizza Cookies for Jack's Surprise Party!

A few weeks before Jack's 6th birthday,

(You can find it HERE)

It stopped Jack in his tracks as he rushed by the computer.

"Whoa Mom!  Those are the coolest cookies ever!!!!
Are you going to make those?!"

Right at that moment a little light bulb turned on over my head.

Surprise party.....Jack....PIZZA COOKIES!!!!!

"Yeah Jack, someone just asked for pizza cookie favors.
I'll make them in a few weeks."

he-he-he

I love surprises.

Why a surprise party?

Jack has a summer birthday, late August.
So, while it is easier to track down his friends through email and evites,
you never know who is out of town and able to come.

I figured this way,
if it turned out that not a single one of his friends could come....
no broken heart.

What...you don't quite believe that?

Okay, fine.
Maybe that was only 50 percent of the reason.

I knew, without a doubt, if I had to hear thirty days of,

"Is it my party yet?"
"Is my party today?"
"Will Ryan be there?"
"Will Paige be there?"
"How many tokens do we get?"
"Will there be pizza?"
"Are Grandma and Grandpa coming?"
"Can I have soda?"

"Can I invite Riley?"
(the 15 year old neighbor)
"Can I invite Adena?"
(she cuts Jack's hair)
"Can I invite the mailman?"

I might strangle the giant mouse when we finally showed up at Chuck E. Cheese.

It's not cool to attack the giant mouse.
It's just not.

I told him he needed to come with me to deliver the cookies.
I had to show him the balloon with his name on it
before he actually believed the party was for him.

He was shocked.
Way beyond surprised.

We took pictures with all his friends when they started arriving.
He was more and more excited as each one came through the door.

They all talked strategy before he headed into the magic ticket booth.

At the end of the party, he stood in front of the prize counter
with his little tickets and kept repeating....

"I just can't believe I'm doing this...
this is awesome."

Score one for the Mommy.

Happy Birthday Jack Jack.

You make our hearts smile,

every

single

day.

The One With The Scar....More Harry Potter Cookies

This is absolutely, hands-down, my favorite Harry Potter Inspired Design.

I can say that because I didn't come up with it.

When I asked Erin (of TheWanderingReader.com) if I could use her

not only did she say yes....

She asked,  "Are there any other designs you'd like to use?"

Um.....yeah!

(I tried to keep it to a couple, but it wasn't easy)

This bookmark was the first item I spied.

...is there a 'cookiefy' spell?

Love.

Then I saw the Expecto Patronum bookmark!!!

I knew it would be the perfect cookie to paint.

I try not to play cookie favorites....but....

Sometimes you can't help it.

It's like a perfect little Harry Potter cookie family!

Now, remember all these cookies were for Hannah.

Hannah, like almost every other girl around her age who loves to read,

also loves the Twilight books.

I'll admit it, I've read them and loved them too.

Edward is certainly swoon-worthy,

but he's no Harry.

I'll take a magic wand over eternal youth any day.

 Pretty much says it all.

I told Erin the whole long, sordid story of why I was making all these cookies.

(I figured she'd appreciate a Harry Potter cookie party since she loves books so much.)

Know what she said?

Any guesses?

She said.....

"Would you like me to come up with some party printables
that you could use for your party?

Maybe you could share them with your readers afterward,
do you think they would like that?"

YES!!!!!

Magical Spell Cookies!

If you could wave your magic wand and come up with any sort of spell...

...what would it be?

Kind of hard to answer that, isn't it?

Would it be

CONFUNDUS!!!!!

That one confuses your victim and muddles their brain.

(um, or maybe makes your mom forget that you didn't make your bed?)

How about...

FLIPENDO!

Great for dueling.

Knocks your opponent on his you-know-what!

he-he-he

Want to make S'more's for a snack, but don't have a campfire?

INCENDIO!!!

Warm and toasty yet?

Would you like your marshmallow a little bit suntanned,
 or charred beyond recognition?

Kids....don't try that at home, or inside, or....

just forget I mentioned it.

Thanks.

When I was little I really could of used

LUMOS!
and
NOX!

Lumos, lights up the end of your wand.

Nox, puts it out.

That would have been a lot easier than typing '8888888888'
into my calculator, making the whole display light up
so I could read by glowing red light under the covers after bedtime.

Yes, that is a true story.

Yes, that probably is why Jack is so stubborn.

Did I forget to mention that we found Jack in bed with his nightlight plugged into an extension cord, cover removed, reading by bare 7 watt light bulb?

Yes, that is my Mom you hear laughing hysterically in triumph
because Karma finally bit me is the a**.

(Love that little stinker.)

Back to cookies....

I saved the best for last....

Wouldn't everyone like to fly?

WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA!

Alright, so maybe that just makes things float, but its still cool.

Oh!  I could float my coffee upstairs to me while still in bed!!!!

That would be fabulous!

And then

ALOHOMORA!

would unlock all the doors because I have no clue where my keys are.

Yup, life with a magic wand would be great.

Sadly....no magic for me.

I do have my very own grown up wizard though...

...and he's way cuter that Harry Potter.

Come on back, still more Harry Potter Cookie fun to come!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Lizy B
