Back to School Cookies...Lunch Box Love Notes!

There is one cookie theme I've never gotten around to.
(well, there's probably more than one....)

Back to School cookies.

Know why?

BECAUSE MY KIDS ARE STILL AT HOME!!!!

Ugh.

I love them to bits, I really do,
but seriously folks...school needs to start.

Last year I made these cookies for a guest post over at Something Swanky,
but I never shared the full set over here.

When Ashton asked if I'd like to write a post for her blog, I was beyond thrilled!

But then the baker's equivalent to 'what am I going to wear' kicked in....

what the heck should I make????

I wanted to do something different...something back to schoolish....

hmmm.....what to do, what to do?!

So I went to Target.

(There's always something helpful to be found at Target..)

I found these!!

Lunch box notes to put in your munchkins' lunch as a little pick-me-up!

So stinkin' cute!

When I was in grade school,
my girlfriend Amber always found little notes in her lunch box from her mom.
Sometimes it was a comic strip from the newspaper,
other times a little message on her napkin.

It was something I never forgot, so when Ethan, my older son,
started school, I couldn't wait to send him little love notes.

It didn't go quite so well.

He was mortified.
Humiliated.

So I stopped, but I never forgot about them.

Now that Jack is going to kindergarten,
I have another shot at this lunch box love note business.

I think these might be cool enough to not be embarrassing.

Especially when you are trying to be a
big, brave kindergartener that doesn't need his mom......

But I'm thinking I can come up with something even cooler...

What if your little note, was really your snack?

You can't be embarrassed by your snack, right?

Okay, hugs and kisses and I Love You's might be a little embarrassing.

Maybe I'll stick with inspirational.

I'm hoping there won't be anything stressful enough about Kindergarten that he'll need that one, but you never know.

Oh!  The school play!
Yup, that one will be good.

Here's my favorite.

Octopus hugs!!!

I think he'll like them.

And if he's embarrassed....

...he can eat the evidence!

Owl Cookie Cuties!

What do little cutie pie owls say
when they go on vacation to Hawaii?

OWL-OOOOOOOO-HA!

Y'know....kinda like Aloha, but...not.

Okay wait, I've got another one!

What do Teenage Owls do when they go out in Hawaii?

They do the WHOOOOO-La!

One more, one more, one more!!!

What did the little boy owl say to his mom when he left the house?

OWL Be at the Beach!

Okay fine, I'll stop.  That's all I've got.

No more owl jokes for you...

I do have a couple more cookies though...

These were inspired by some little owl stickers I bought at Michaels for a dollar.

I couldn't resist little bikini-clad owls!

This little girl looks mortified!
I would be too if I had bathing suit pictures show up on the internet!

I think these are my favorites.

Owls in inner tubes and goggles...

"AAAHHH...where'd my toes go!!!!???"

They look so shocked!

Summer is *finally* almost over for us.

Life is about to get back to normal...

Two weeks until school starts!

Yippee!!!

(Whoops....I totally didn't say that okay!
Don't tell the kids!  SSSHHH!)

Hope you all are enjoying the last bits of summer!

(or the start of school....it's okay, I won't tell!)

Surfboard Cookies!

Confession time....

I have never been on a surfboard.

I've lived in Southern California since the age of 7.
A good portion of those years were spent in a town that actually had the word 'beach' in it.

I don't think I've ever lived more than 20 minutes from the ocean....even during college.

Oh wait!

There was the year and a half that Joe and I lived in Texas right after we were married.

We were completely landlocked....
and I developed a strange obsession with lighthouses.

Seriously.

I bought lighthouse ornaments, plates, pictures, placemats, puzzles....very strange.

But then we moved home and the lighthouses were packed away.

But I still haven't been on a surfboard.

And I'm pretty okay with that.

The Pacific Ocean is cold!

I'm more of a
'watch the waves while sipping a coconutty cocktail'
kind of a girl.

I'm also a sucker for a good beach movie...

A little love....some moonlight....a song or two.

Fabulous!!!!

Disney's new movie didn't have Elvis, but it was still pretty cute!

If you'd like to see how all these surfboards and flowers were turned into a super cute
Disney Teen Beach Movie stop by Pink Peppermint Prints!

She even has great printables!!!

Our family will be leaving for an island vacation soon.

Maybe I'll finally get on a surfboard!

Okay, fine....we all know that won't happen.

I'll be the lady with the big ole sun hat, sitting in a lounge chair next to the pool,
holding a fruity drink with an umbrella.

But I'll also have a fabulous view of the ocean!!!!

Here are some more fun beachy cookies!
