A Little Holiday Advice....

I just wanted to put a little something out there,
Not a big deal, but something I thought I should mention.

If your sweetheart just happens to request a new bag for Christmas...
she's not talking about this one.

As fabulous as this bag is,
and believe me, it was delicious when I just ate it with my cup of tea,
that's not what she meant.

She didn't mean an ornament shaped like a bag.

She didn't mean a reusable shopping bag from Trader Joe's.

She meant something fancy, that even comes in its own protective bag.
It probably needs to have some initials on it like 'LV' or 'C' or 'H'....

There might even be some little accessories with the same initials
that could be put inside the first bag...

We ladies take our handbags very, very seriously.
This is not the time to joke fellas.

Just trying to help.

Decorating for Christmas!

Are you ready for Christmas?

Are you a 'decorate the entire house' kind of family (including the bathrooms)?

Do you prefer the matching glass ornament sets?
(or the very fabulous shatterproof variety)

Would anyone like to guess which of those two versions my family most resembles....

Yeah...I know, not too hard to figure that out.
The decorations are everywhere.

If the kids sit in one place too long,
I have been known to drape a little garland over their shoulders....

I do draw the line at holiday toilet paper, but I have received it
as a gift once....(Hi Kim!).

Do you wrap everything early....or on Christmas Eve?

We do a little of both.

I just think the tree looks a little happier with a few gifts underneath!

And...yes....there are cookies EVERYWHERE....

It's ten days 'til Christmas...do you know where your cookies are?

Personalized Christmas Cookies!

Why is it that everyone loves a gift with their name on it?
I know I do!

So....how to make a regular cookie even better?

Put a name on it!!!!!

Clearly...this is Christopher's cookie.  No one else's.
Definitely NOT his sister's.
His sister has her own cookie...there is no confusion.
Hence, there is no arguing...
right?

Although....I know Courtney....she would never steal her
little brother's cookie.

I bet she'll even share with Emma, Katy and Danielle on the way to school.
She's just great like that.

This guy just keeps popping up all over....
(he thinks this holiday is all about him)

Hanukkah Cookies!

I think I may have mentioned how much I love holiday decorations.  But I've always wondered...why is it that the Hanukkah section is always so small?

I mean really....it's been around longer than Christmas, so you'd think there would be a little more square footage dedicated to the holiday.

In our house we celebrate Christmas, but we have many friends and family members who celebrate Hanukkah.

So I thought this year, I'd kick off the holiday season with these.....

Hanukkah Cookies!

I've always loved the colors!

Stars of David....

Menorah
I'm not sure if its bad form to have all the candles lit,
but I think it may be bad luck to have them unlit...
(oh the angst....)

Dreidel, dreidel, dreidel, I made you out of.....sugar...

Oooh look!  I won!
Gelt!

Happy Hanukkah
Erica, Greg, Sean, Nikki,
Christian, Kim, Kaylin, Andrew,
Gina, Uncle Bob, Ian, Eric and your families!!!

We love you all!

Cookie Couture!

So if you have a new bag, and new sparkly shoes, you must have a new dress to go with them!

A little one shoulder number would be perfect for New Year's Eve!

Oooooooh, the perfect ensemble!

It comes in other colors as well!

I like the girly versions too, for a little less formal affair.

All joking aside....I really would be thrilled if these showed up under the tree.

Don't forget the bow!

Have your Chanel and eat it too!!

Have you started your Christmas list?  No?!?!

I know a little something that is on more than a few ladies' lists.....

A new bag!!

But not just any bag, a Chanel bag.
Those two little C's, a lady can spot them a mile away.

Classic white or black just a little too 'classic'?
How about a fabulous new pink tote?

....and of course if you have a fabulous new bag....

.....you must also have fabulous new shoes!

So hard to choose!

hm....something's missing......
This lucky lady needs a new dress...

Pumpkin or Chocolate?

So which one are you?  Pumpkin pie lover or chocolate?

My mom loves pumpkin pie any time of the year.  I've heard reports that cousin Craig just may get a little  grumpy if he doesn't end Thanksgiving with a slice of pie and a little cool whip on top (or was that a bowl of cool whip and a little pie on top....hmmmm).

I'll always take chocolate cream pie.  Really though, I'm happier if it has a graham cracker crust.  Not a big pie crust fan.

My husband, on the other hand, doesn't like either.  Know why?  Not enough crust.  Not even close!

For Joe, a proper pie needs:

   1. A bottom crust  AND a top crust.

   2.  Some sort of fruit filling that looks a whole lot like apples....

   3.  It must be warm.

   4.  There absolutely must be, no doubt about it, don't even think of handing him the plate if there
isn't, vanilla ice cream on top.

   5.  No whip cream.

He's not a picky eater....he just knows what he likes.

In other words, these cookies are not for him....

Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Cream Pie Cookies!!!

I'm certainly not the first to make these.  Ali Bee's Bake Shop did the first ones I saw a year or so ago.
Hers are ah-mazing, and I've wanted to try them ever since.

I wanted to do something a little different, a little unique, and since they still need to look like pies.....there's not too much wiggle room.

So I tried to think back to the last time I made a pie....

....that didn't help....

then I remembered my grandmother doing this when she'd make lemon meringue pie for my mom.

Did your grandmother do this?  The 'crimp the edges with a fork' thing on the edges?

No?  Oh.

Well, I'm pretty sure mine did.

This was before Martha came around and let us know we were supposed to be braiding and stamping and carving the edges into who-knows-what.

That's what her pies looked like!

So....which would you pick?

Pumpkin?

Or Chocolate Cream?

 Or some of each?
